In October 2024, Yango, together with the Zambian National STEM Foundation, welcomed the very first 30 Yango Fellows in Africa.
This inaugural fellowship sought out first-generation trailblazers, young people who were often the first in their families to enter higher education.
Many of these Fellows balanced their studies with multiple jobs, yet remained determined to bring new ideas to life in fields ranging from Medicine and Engineering to Agriculture, Cybersecurity, and Architecture.
Through networking sessions, workshops, and community projects, they are not only strengthening their own skills but also becoming visible role models for Zambia’s next generation.
Financial barriers and the absence of mentors often hold back young people who could otherwise become the engineers, scientists, and innovators Côte d’Ivoire urgently needs.
The Yango Fellowship set out to change that dynamic. Fellows received not only financial support, but also guidance from experienced professionals and hands-on workshops that prepare them for real opportunities in the tech and STEM economy.
